Total external and internal refurbishment of a villa of 2000m2 on the river Alima, in Art-deco style.
The preparatory phase of this project was extremely complex as the villa, built in 1993 close to a river, was riddled with damp. Specialist equipment and skills for drying out the building, cutting the walls and installing adequate damp-proofing were therefore necessary. The extensive roof needed replacing, and the new interior plan required structural adjustments.
The new interior was planned around the elements of the original building having most aesthetic value, in particular the height of the ceilings, the spaciousness of the main hall, the exceptional views over the river, the park and the forest.
The marbles were chosen for their colours and veining, allowing for their recomposition according to traditional Italian techniques of marble-work.
The columns were covered in “scagliola”, a highly skilled technique reproducing rare marbles that only an expert eye can distinguish from the originals.
All decoration, new design and materials reflect scrupulously the Art-deco style.
